【Mejiro】A safe and gentle city for women

Mejiro station is located in Toshima ward along the JR Yamanote line. Mejiro has a great accessibility with its direct connection to the main railway stations such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa or Tokyo, and you can even walk to the terminal station, Ikebukuro.

It is said that Mejiro contains higher population of women. What does it attracts them?

One reason is its safety. There are many educational facilities and schools near Mejiro station, including Gakushuin University, which has been founded as a school for Japanese nobility and imperial families. However it is far beyond from a busy student quarter, but instead it is a quiet educational district. Stores unfavorable from an educational point of view are regulated to build around here, so the atmosphere of the town is kept gentle and safe. It is a beneficial place to bring up a child and provide appropriate education.

Another reason is its cultural aspect. There are some parks and gardens to enjoy nature and green. Above all, ”Mejiro garden” is popular as a stroll garden with a central pond, where you can enjoy the colored leaves in coming autumn. “Sekicho-an” teahouse, meaning red bird temple can be rented for cultural events. Tea ceremonies or events for flower arrangements etc, are held here and it still has an important role to keep and cherish the Japanese culture.

Mejiro is a great place for people who would like to live quiet life in central Tokyo.
